After much prayerful consideration it’s with a heavy heart that I announce to you that we’re ending Philmont after August. It’s been an amazing journey for all of us involved. Seven years ago when we held our first band practice in my parent’s house I never could have anticipated how blessed we would be in this musical endeavor. We’ve had so many amazing opportunities to not only play shows and (hopefully touch lives) but also to meet so many incredible people along the way.
We’re all planning on sticking with this music thing for a while longer. Josiah’s going off to pursue other opportunities and begin to focus on producing. Josh, Brittany and I are writing for a new project and hope to tell you more about that soon.
A million thanks for all of you who stuck by our side through the tough times all well as the good. We pray that our music will still continue to encourage listeners for years to come.
Our last and final show will be on August 31st at Lifelight SD. We’ll be headlining the 360 stage that night. It’s a free festival so go ahead and book your airline ticket now!
On a financial note Philmont is ending with a substantial amount of debt which will turn into personal debt. We’re hoping to offset some of this by selling off our remaining merch. (This will be available online starting early Sept) If you’re interested in donating any money to help us out you can do so via PayPal (PhilmontPayPal@gmail.com).
We’ll also be selling off some other fun, non-merch stuff! (Stage boxes, banners, merch backdrop, etc.)
If you’re interested in making a donation in exchange for one of these items just send us an email and let us know what you want and what you’re willing to pay for it– Silent auction style.
We’ll continue to maintain the band Facebook page and monitor this blog– though not very frequently. Feel free to follow us on our individual Facebook pages and Twitters to keep up with us post-Philmont.
It’s been a heck of a ride. Thanks for being a part of it.

I hope you guys had a great week, because I did. I drove down to Spartanburg, SC (about 2 hours from my house in Waxhaw, NC) and stayed with Lauren’s family for a few days. It’s always so much fun visiting with them, and I wish I got to see them more often than I do. One of the nights Lauren and I went on our first movie date ever! We saw Gnomio and Juliet. It looked funny and like something we both would enjoy. It was eh. Lauren enjoyed it, but as dark as it sounds, I still prefer the original ending to the story. It did have some pretty funny parts in it though I’ll give it that.
Anyway. We’ll be attending two weddings over the course of a couple of weeks. (My buddy Jordan’s this weekend and then Todd’s at the end of the month! Congratulations to them both. I love those guys.) And so we went and got some dressy clothes to wear and found some great deals! If any of you guys haven’t tried TJ Maxx or Ross, you’re spending too much.
Saturday, for Maggie’s birthday bash, Dustin (Maggie’s BF) came over and brought a cornhole set with him and Lauren’s dad grilled some burgers and we all just hung out in the backyard and had a great time. You all should have been there.
Sunday I was back home and we met up with the rest of the Guion side of the family at Sticky Fingers for Mother’s Day. I can’t say confidently that I’ve eaten better BBQ.. It was delicious. Shannon, David, Ira, and I got my mom a gift card to Journey’s so she could rock the Sperry’s she’s been wanting. But apparently Sperry’s makes shoes for every size foot except for my mom’s. But hopefully we’ll get that figured out soon. I love you mom! Happy Mother’s Day. Again.
So the Sonic closest to my house had a sign out front that read, “Free breakfast burrito between 6am and 7am.” I guess they didn’t expect anyone to be awake then. But David and I woke up at 6 just for Sonic and had ourselves a burrito. If you want to try this at your Sonic, just know they typically only give away one burrito per car. They made an exception for us. Next time I’m just bringing a lot of cars.
Well I believe that’s all the space I have to ramble this week. Click on my face below to follow me on twitter and keep up with me between my blogs. See you guys next week!
Hi everyone, This is your fellow Philmont-ian Justin Sams or BustinJams IF you like. Im just gearing up/ preparing myself for my first flight in the Stratosphere. Im pretty excited, not only is it my first flight but my first time leaving the country! Philmont will be traveling to the Netherlands for about 3 days then coming home.
Im pretty pumped to be starting summer with such an awesome trip. Our summer looks good and is still unfolding. Were totally stoaked to be heading back to Icthus this year also venturing out and doing other festivals that are new to us. Really hope to meet new people and make new friends, not that our current friends are getting old or anything, we love each and everyone of you!
So were starting this whole new WordPress blog thing to keep you fans updated more about the whole world of Philmont. Each member will be posting a new blog just about every other day. We hope to keep it juicy and full of great things to keep you coming back for more. In doing so I realize im much better at writing things out than talking on the spot like in an interview, guess I need to work on that!
Wow, just saw a Manwich commercial with the most annoying/ awful jingle ever. But it did the job and now im craving a sloppy-joe….
Well Everyone thats it for me. Im outta here
