Ahhh the tree and the trimmings are up! My family decorated our house this past weekend, including our mammoth of a Christmas tree (pics on FB) that the kind people at Lowe’s grew just for us. We brought down tons of boxes from the attic that were filled with holiday decorum, candles, ornaments, lights, and the like. Pop in a classic Christmas CD, order a few pizzas, and our family’s annual tradition is complete! ‘Twas grand times.

Early (really early) this morning, I got up to go play piano for a function that my dad’s organization put on. He works for Turning Point, a non-profit ministry/shelter for victims of domestic abuse (primarily women). He is in charge of all fundraising events, so he enlisted me to come provide background music for this particular breakfasteon (why should lunch be the only meal that can be made professional by adding “-eon” to the end??) Anyway, the event was a great success – they raised close to $20,000! I wouldn’t say that my jazzy rendition of “Let It Be” definitely provoked higher donations, but it certainly didn’t hurt. In all seriousness, it was cool to see my dad at work, and I’m proud of what he does!

In case you haven’t heard, The Beatles finally came to an agreement with Apple to let them sell their music on the iTunes Store. Now their entire catalog plus videos and documentaries are available. Good stuff.

I went Black Friday shopping. The big mall near me opened at midnight, so my girlfriend and I went and meandered through the herds of thousands of deal-seekers for a few hours. Didn’t really buy anything, but it’s fun to just go and be a part of the experience!

Here’s something kinda funny and scandalous!! I actually learned this last year, but there were some rumors/controversy going around about alleged racist lyrics in a song from the classic Christmas special “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. From the song “Trim Up the Tree” that the Whos sing while they’re decorating the whole town, there is a line that supposedly says “Trim up your uncle and your aunt, and join the Ku Klux Klan!” You can hear this part at the end of this video …..so do you hear it? How could Dr. Seuss be so ignorant?? Well, here is the real scoop. Whew, that was a close one.

Remember that live streaming concert we played a few fortnights back? Well, on Tuesday we are playing another one! This time a longer set, and we will be taking user-submitted questions LIVE for an interview! This will all be taking place at http://www.steelroots.com/live on Tuesday night at 8 PM EST.

Hope you all have a great week. We are heading out tomorrow for a solid string of shows on the east coast! Check out the dates on Myspace or Facebook.

Three Songs to Buy on iTunes This Week:
1. “The Story So Far” by New Found Glory

2. “Videotape” by Radiohead

3. “Rocket” by Yellowcard
