Hey gang,

So the tour is officially over, sad sad. We Philmonts are trekking across the great plains back home. We left Seattle, WA Sunday night, drove during the day and slept in various towns at night, and man it is amazing to finally have a warm hotel bed and hot shower for the first time since. The show tonight in Topeka, KS was amazing. We definitely feel the love here. Now were making our way to Nashville in the morn.

This tour has been great in many ways, being surrounded by so many encouraging and strong believers definitely helped me and made me thankful for this time with them all. I realize, obviously, if you want to grow stronger in your faith you need to surround yourself with positive, uplifting people. Every day all the bands got together for a Bible study, no matter where the place we even sat down in the floor of a club/ bar we played one night, and turned it into a place of worship. Every bible study or excerpt from a book turned into a great interpretation or personal experience from just about everyone participating. These Bible studies were like the ones us in Philmont practice before every show on our own, but it was great to spend the last month, in a group of about 30, just reading and praying and encouraging our brothers and sisters.

As your parents probably already tell you, you should always surround yourself with positive and good people and don’t hang with the wrong crowd. I know you might say ” But Justin, Jesus hung out with questionable people all the time.” Well if my sources are correct he was teaching at the same time. Proverbs 22:24-25 tells us, “Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.”
Our friends play a big role in who we are and who we become. If you surround yourself with friends who abuse alcohol, party, and act a’fool ( apparently thats a real word, spell checker didn’t flag it as wrong.) the odds are you will fall into these practices. Instead, make friends with those who live by God’s Word.

I grew a little bit in my Faith by being with these amazing bands. I hope you find some people who can help you grow stronger in your walk with God.

  1. Proud of you son…luv ya

  2. Amazing blog post, Justin! I love it! Thanks for posting it. I hope to see you guys in January at MY OLD CHURCH!!! 😀

  3. That’s so awesome that you guys got to have Bible study while on tour. You are so right, the friends you surround yourself with do determine so much how you grow (or not grow) in your faith, and how you act. Thanks for the reminder, Justin. 🙂
